UPDATE May 18, 2008

Hi Everyone -- We are in Lynden, WA for the last couple of days. Yesterday we visited the famous Bellingham farmer's market where we ate fresh crepes' made with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and more, including whipping cream. (Have we made you hungry yet?). Since we are planning to go to Alaska next year, we also visited the Bellingham Ferry (where we could cruise to Anchorage with the RV on the ferry and then explore Alaska as we take our time driving back to the states).
Today, we took our Enterprise rental car (PT Cruiser convertible) to Vancouver, British Columbia. What an absolutely beautiful city! We were there some 20 years ago and it was an experience to go back. See pictures below.
We leave tomorrow for Coeur d'Alene, ID and then on to Glacier National Park for Memorial Day Weekend. Hope all is well with each of you. We miss you. You are welcome to e-mail us at any time. We love staying in touch with you as we tour America.

2008 RV Trip

As we travel this great country we do have to be at some places on special dates for weddings, reunions and Jerry's speaking. Here are our special dates. Cold Spring, MN, June 6th; Fargo, ND, June 28th; Cabin in PA, July 22-28; Mary's H.S. Reunion, Cold Spring, MN, Aug. 9th; Calgary, Canada, Toastmaster's Convention, Aug. 15th; Atlanta, GA, Speaking Engagement (Jerry will Fly there from Rapid City, South Dakota, Sept. 29 - Oct. 5; Hostfest in Minot, ND, Oct 17-18; Mary's Law School Reunion, Grand Forks, ND, Xango Convention, Salt Lake City, UT, Nov. 4-8th; Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years (and Rose Parade) in Southern California with our kids and grandchildren.

First Stop - Yosemite

We left Cambria on April 16, 2008, and made our first stop in Yosemite. We stayed at a real nice campground; however, it was a 2 hour drive from the campground (on a shuttle) to Yosemite Valley. The road in was under construction and we had 20 minute delays going and coming.

Have first been to Yosemite in '57 with my folks, then taking our kids there in '77, it had been 30 years since we made a visit to Yosemite Valley. As soon as we entered the valley floor we could not believe what we saw. Many of the lush green trees that made the valley so beautiful are gone. In place are burned out and sick trees. Look at the picture below taken from Insiration Point. Notice the "brown" tree to the bottom right. While most of the trees at this point (up high) are green, in the valley they have many sick and burned out trees. Sad to see, but in time, nature will turn everything green again.

Due to the 4-hour round trip, we only spent one day in the Valley. Our five-day stay at the park was very relaxing. It was a great way to start off on our trip.

From here we went to see friends in Angels Camp, Scotts Valley, and Petaluma (just above San Francisco). See pictures below.
